60 kHz ultrasonic spraying nebulizing‑atomizing nozzles for thin‑film coating work in conjunction with a planar jet guide plate to deliver regulated jet streams. Upon atomization, spray droplets are instantly carried by the air flow at the nozzle's atomizing surface, generating a fan‑shaped spray profile. Airflow velocity can be adjusted, enabling either low‑impact or high‑impact spray impingement onto workpieces and substrates.

This versatile air‑shaping system produces spray patterns reaching 6 inches (15 cm) in width, subject to working distance from the substrate. For large‑area processing with multiple nozzles arranged in series, there is no upper limit on achievable coating width.

Ultrasonic nozzles utilize piezoelectric transducers to transform high‑frequency acoustic waves into mechanical energy, which is then transferred to the process liquid. This longitudinal reciprocating vibration creates standing waves within the liquid film formed at the nozzle tip. The amplitude of these standing waves is adjustable via the power generator. Standing liquid waves rise toward the nozzle orifice; as liquid detaches from the atomizing surface, it breaks apart into a homogeneous fine mist consisting of micrometer‑scale droplets.

Unlike pressure‑type nozzles, ultrasonic nozzles generate spray without forcing liquid through an orifice under high pressure. Liquid is fed through the central passage of the nozzle with negligible pressure, and atomization occurs purely from ultrasonic vibration inside the nozzle assembly.

Every ultrasonic nozzle runs at a fixed resonant frequency, and this frequency defines the median droplet size. Droplet size exhibits minimal dispersion, and its distribution can be accurately predicted within a defined range using mathematical models. For instance, a 120 kHz nozzle delivers a median droplet size of 18 μm when atomizing water. Higher operating frequencies yield smaller median droplet sizes.
